Practical Woodwork
Here at Kear Campus, pupils engage in skills based learning in order to manufacture products made from wood.
Pupils in the BGE phase (S1-S3), partake in a completely practical course, which introduces them to Health and safety, construction of products from wood, popular woodworking joining techniques and the safe use of a selection of hand tools. Pupils in S1 also complete some practical tasks using acrylic plastic, and in S3 pupils are supported to work independently under supervision. This helps pupils prepare for qualifications by building the skills and safe working practices needed to progress towards the National 4 and National 5 Practical woodworking courses.
