Primary Provision (Bases)

Our Primary bases are full-time educational provisions for children with social, emotional, behavioural and communication needs. Whithorn Primary Support Base is located in St Ninian’s Primary School, Hamilton and Victoria Falls is located in David Livingston Memorial Primary, Blantyre. Pupils engage in an adapted curriculum and can join mainstream classes where appropriate. Our support bases consist of two classes, and various other areas within the school grounds, including a soft-play and sensory room.

We ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of the individual child, in line with the principles of Getting It Right for Every Child and Curriculum for Excellence.  Pupils are supported to achieve success wherever possible and reach their potential with attainment targets. Not only do pupils work through the Curriculum for Excellence benchmarks but they are given opportunities for wider achievements.

 Hi - 5 Awards

Pupils in our primary bases are given the opportunity to be awarded the The Hi5 Award. This is a nationally recognised award for young people age 5+ that provides a means of recording and evidencing their achievements within the activities that they experience.

John Muir Award

Pupils are also given the opportunity to complete The John Muir Award. This award teaches pupils through practical, creative and engaging approaches. It uses the outdoors to teach pupils about the environment and learning for sustainability. It allows pupils to develop skills for life, learning and work and celebrate achievement in and beyond the classroom.
